Porsche has filed a patent for a brand new W12 engine. This comes after Bentley, one other VW Group firm, phased out W12s from its lineup.

Porsche says, “The cylinders of the interior combustion engine are organized in a W-shape. Every cylinder head has not less than one consumption port and one exhaust port, whereby the consumption port is linked to an air plenum for circulation, and the exhaust port is linked to an exhaust fuel discharge machine.”

“The air plenum is organized on the higher aspect, specifically largely overlaying it, such that air can circulation from the air plenum into the consumption channels from above, or could be sucked in instantly in a straight line, thus with out curvature, by a reciprocating piston of the interior combustion engine, which is organized within the cylinder to carry out a considerably upward and downward motion. The air chamber thus has a gap for circulation reference to the consumption port, which is oriented within the route of the crankshaft.”
